This species was once quite widely distributed, and occurred, among others, in the Tennessee River in Alabama, in the Wabsh River in Illinois and Indiana, in the Clinch River in Indiana and Tennessee, in the White River in Indiana, in the Green River in Kentucky, in the Ohio River in Kentucky and Ohio as well as in the Cumberland River in Tennessee.
